I’ve been joking about the fact that MPN is in terrible shape: the numbers are way down; people are getting jobs. Terrible…!! But I guess I’ll put that joke to bed as the economy picks up steam and we should all be looking ahead. Not only are there marcom jobs out there — first to go, last to be hired back, I suspect — but I even heard of someone who went into a headhunter for an interview and the guy offered him a job — to be a headhunter! A sure sign that the winds have shifted. Which means it’s time to be planning for the future, being a little more aggressive about compensation packages, and nurturing your network. You may already have a job, but that doesn’t mean you should forget MPN. Far from it. Now’s the time to stay in touch, keep your finger on the pulse, and give back. So keep an eye out for your e-mail invite to the MPN Soiree on June 23rd. It’s an easy way to stay in touch with the people who were there for you when…You may even need to hire one of them to do some work for you now. Same time, same place, some great new door prizes, and, hopefully this time, we’ll have better weather!
