MPN is...

The Marketing Professionals Network, or MPN, is a 20 year-old, Boston-based networking group of professionals who are experienced in selling, advertising, marketing, communicating, and/or promoting an organization’s products and services.

MPN's mission is to create a space where members can get in-depth information on area job opportunities, learn advanced job-search techniques, support each other during the ups and downs of the process, and, finally, to build a solid network for the long-term benefit of their careers. 

This is accomplished through weekly meetings, periodic workshops, networking events and individual career counseling.  George Mercer is the facilitator of MPN

Today, there are nearly 500 members in and around the Boston area and new members from all sectors of the marketing community swell the ranks every month.

How MPN Works

MPN's goal is to foster a supportive, interactive network where members can learn job search techniques, share job search experiences, and get in-depth information on local companies and job opportunities, To achieve this goal, MPN:

  • Holds weekly, facilitated meetings for small groups of members
  • Offers biweekly informal Friday meetings with the facilitator
  • Sends members a number of job leads via email each week
  • Conducts periodic, facilitated job search workshops for small groups of members
  • Hosts quarterly “Soirées” — larger, informal events for both current and former MPN members. Soirées…
    • usually include a panel discussion with local HR executives or MPN alums, and
    • always provide an opportunity to network with others in the group.
  • Runs a web site with a special members-only section containing helpful material for job seekers and information about MPNers.

Ultimately though, MPN is about people: peer-to-peer networking and the development of a life-long network of friends and colleagues. The best way to learn how MPN works is to come to a meeting and find out for yourself!

Who Should Attend?

MPN is set up to best help those people with at least three years of experience in marketing or a related field. MPN members are experienced B2B, and B2C marketers with a mix of both company and agency backgrounds and come from a wide range of industries including technology, finance, life sciences, education, consumer, and non-profit sectors.

Many members have more than a decade of experience. Some are looking to continue in their chosen field; others wish to make a transition into a new area of marketing — or even into an entirely new field altogether. Still others are trying to decide whether they wish to become consultants or freelancers.
